- ■ INTRODUCTION

- The BRAIN is a Job Scheduler and/or Menu system for use on MS-DOS based

- ■ KEYBOARD STUFFER │Stuff│ or │Alt│ │K│
- └─────┘ └───┘ └─┘
-
- One of the most important options in the BRAIN is the Keyboard Stuffer.
- Use this routine to 'stuff' keystrokes into the jobs/batch files/programs
- that are run. This option extends the number and types of programs that
- can be run to include those that have prompts.
-
- Valid keyboard stuff codes/values are special scan codes for function
- keys like the F1 through F12 keys, combinations of the ALT, CTRL and Shift
- keys with others, the arrow keys, numeric keypad keys and others. Literal
- values are acceptable when surrounded/enclosed by single quotes, ie: 'QUIT'.
- Special scan codes are generated by each key combination on your
- keyboard. A following table lists the codes generated by the computers
- at TJS LAB. If you have any problems with them, download SCANCODE.EXE from
- our BBS (407) 292-4921 (8-N-1, 1200-9600). It will show you what your codes
- are, if different from ours.

- Examples:
-
- 1. Job HOTJOB.BAT: CD\DBASE
- DBASE
- DO JOB1
- QUIT
-
- Keyboard Stuffer for HOTJOB.BAT: 'DO JOB1' 7181 'QUIT' 7181
-
- (Note, after the batch file loaded dBase (tm), the string
- 'DO JOB1' was stuffed, then the Enter key scan value of '7181'.
- While dBase runs the program JOB1, the 'QUIT' string
- plus another Enter key value was stuffed. After running JOB1,
- dBase terminates, and control returns to the BRAIN)
-
-
- only the Enter key '7181' value was require to pass the
- PAUSE key in the batch file)
-
- 2. Job DEMO.BAT: CD\BACKUP
- CLS
- REM About to backup some data
- PAUSE
- PKZIP DATA \DAYOPOS\*.DB?
- PKZIP DATA \DAYOPOS\*.CFG
-
- Keyboard Stuffer for HOTJOB.BAT: 7181
-
- (Note, only the Enter key '7181' value was require to pass the
- PAUSE key in the batch file)

- ■ SPECIAL FILES
-
- When a job is run, BRAIN creates temporary files (swap memory files)
- in its current directory. These files usually contain numeric digits. If
- HIMEM.SYS is loaded and memory is available, a file with the name like
- 'TEMP0001.RAM' will be created. The files are deleted by the BRAIN after
- it executes a job. A real disk space problem will occur if the BRAIN does
- not return to its execution after running a job (ie: a reboot). These files
- are large (about 400k), so look for them (check the date). Erasing 'active'
- memory swap files will cause the BRAIN to abort. On networks, multiple
- swap files may be present...
